ATH Resources plc directly employs over 250 people across its opencast sites and at its head office in Doncaster, with another 100+ at its subsidiary organisation ATH Regeneration Ltd. Coupled with the use of subcontracting organisations, the total workforce on opencast sites is currently over 350, around 75% of which are drawn from the local population around each site.

Many of the Company's employees have been recruited from outside the opencast industry, and trained in varying types of plant operations, maintenance work and ancillary skills. The Company encourages internal progression of employees, training and developing those who show an interest in and an aptitude for other skills and operations.

ATH Regeneration Ltd currently employs 100 people. The skill types employed include engineering tradesman covering static and mobile plant, heavy plant machine operators, plant attendants along with the supervisory and management grades covering the various disciplines. The company is based in South Yorkshire and reclaims and regenerates brown field sites predominantly in the Yorkshire and Midlands areas, although opportunities will be pursued throughout the UK. The workforce is predominantly drawn from the local population in the areas of the operating sites and full training on and off the job is provided in a variety of skill sets.

A City & Guilds accredited training centre is also a key part of the organisation’s employee development plan, and operates to qualify plant operators to NVQ Level II. Health & safety training is taken very seriously, with annual seminars held for all site employees, and all relevant health and safety training carried out regularly.
